JOB TITLE: Recreation Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Recreation

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time; Regular

CLASSIFICATION: Covered/Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Director, the Recreation Assistant works with the recreational aides, community workers, Program and Community volunteers in the implementation of recreational activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with developing recreational programs to include children, adults, elderly, families, and special interest groups.
  • Assist with developing a yearly calendar of planned leagues, tournaments, and cultural/social activities for the community.
  • Assist with overseeing the on-going maintenance of the Tribal recreation facility/gym.
  • Assist with and coordinates on site supervision of planned recreational activities.
  • Participates in the planning process for gym activities.
  • Cooperates, Communicates, Collaborates with the Recreational Committee at meetings, activities and events.
  • Provides coverage on weekends/evenings/holidays as scheduled and/or needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or assistant.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing.


Other:

  • Must be willing to work beyond regular work hours (evenings, weekends and holidays).
  • Must be physically able to lift 80 lbs.


NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a Valid Driver License and be eligible for the tribe's insurance.
  • Submit to State and Federal background check, Arizona Level-One Fingerprint card required.
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment and random drug/alcohol test.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least six (6) months of experience in recreation is preferred.
