Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Student Assistant will support the marketing and communications efforts of the University of West Georgia's Admissions Office through creative content development, social media, graphic design and video production/editing. This position will work closely with the Coordinator of Communications and Marketing and Graduate Assistants to create engaging content that promotes UWG Admissions, academic programs, events, campus experiences and student engagement.
Required Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at the University of West Georgia.
• Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Basic graphic design skills and experience creating digital graphics through Canva.
• Strong interest in marketing, communications, social media, digital media, graphic design or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of social media platforms and social media content creation.
• Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and respectfully with students, staff, faculty and campus partners.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects or assignments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in branding and messaging.
• Willingness to learn new marketing, communications and creative tools and techniques.
• Availability to attend select admissions events and campus activities as needed.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions

• This position primarily works in an office environment and requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time while creating graphics, editing videos, scheduling social media content and completing other marketing and communications tasks.
• The position may also require walking throughout campus to gather photo and video content, attend admissions events and capture content in a variety of environments. Occasional short distance travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current University of West Georgia student in good academic standing.
• Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, social media, graphic design, video production or a related field.
• Experience or familiarity with Canva and Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Creative, dependable and detail-oriented.
• Basic graphic design skills and experience creating digital graphics
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and current social media trends is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Basic understanding of social media platforms and current social media trends.
• Basic knowledge of graphic design principles and visual communication.
• Experience using Canva to create social media graphics, digital advertisements, event promotions and other marketing materials.
• Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing is preferred.
• Understanding of basic video editing concepts, including trimming footage, adding transitions, incorporating text and graphics, and preparing content for social media.
