Job description

Job Title: Digital Media Coordinator                                                                               Exemption Status: Exempt

Reports to: Executive Director of Communications                                                                                                     

DepartmentCommunications

Primary Purpose:

Support the district's strategic communications, marketing and community engagement efforts by creating high-quality visual, written and digital content that tells the story of the district, its students, staff, schools and programs. Manage and develop content across district websites, social media platforms and other digital communication channels while maintaining consistent district branding and messaging.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, news media, marketing, journalism, video production, graphic design or a related field. 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Creative storyteller using multiple platforms
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Versatility and ability to work as part of a creative team
  • Understanding of FERPA, HIPPA and professional confidentiality 

Experience:

  • Creating communications and marketing campaigns, from conception to dissemination
  • Writing content for web, social media and traditional media
  • Planning special events
  • Managing time and consistently meeting deadlines
  • Building relationships with community members and co-workers
  • Preferred experience in photography and video production

Working Conditions:

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Photography: Attend district and campus events, activities, recognitions, athletics and special programs; capture and edit professional-quality photographs for district publications, websites, social media, marketing materials and media use.
  • Video Production: Plan, shoot, edit and produce short- and long-form video content, including promotional videos, student/staff features, event recaps, interviews, social media reels and district campaigns.
  • Storytelling & Writing: Identify story opportunities throughout the district; interview students and staff; write feature stories, news articles, website content, social media copy and other communications.
  • Website Management: Maintain and update district and campus website content using the Thrillshare content management system; create and improve pages; ensure information is current, visually engaging, accessible and consistent with district branding. Serve as the primary point of contact for routine management and user troubleshooting on the district classroom communication platform (ROOMS by Apptegy)
  • Digital & Social Media: Create engaging multimedia content for district social media platforms; assist with content calendars, campaigns and audience engagement; monitor trends and identify new opportunities for digital storytelling.
  • Marketing & Branding: Develop content for district marketing and recruitment efforts; support enrollment, employee recruitment, bond/facility communications, special events and community engagement campaigns; help maintain consistent use of district brand standards.
  • Creative Services: Design digital graphics and basic promotional materials and collaborate on larger publications, campaigns and special projects. Coordinate with external vendors for print production, advertising, and specialty quotes.
  • Communications Support: Assist with district-wide events, media needs, presentations and other communications initiatives as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Strong foundation in AP style, grammar, copywriting, and media storytelling tailored for school district audiences.
  • Ability to comprehend complex strategies and tailor communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priority projects.
  • Familiarity with K-12 communication environments or mobile app messaging platforms (Apptegy/Rooms experiences a plus).
  • Hands on proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign) and/or Canva.
  • Working knowledge and experience using a web content management system (CMS) and social media management tools.
