Job description

The Advertising-Communications Intern directly assists the Communications department with advertisingrelated initiatives for Ohio Cooperative Living magazine, a monthly publication distributed to over 300,000 electric cooperative members across the state of Ohio. 

This internship focuses on supporting the development of an inhouse advertising program by identifying prospective advertisers, building lead lists, and assisting with early outreach and relationshipbuilding efforts. In addition, supporting post-ad sale coordination, proofing and communication with the advertiser. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  
Researches and identifies potential advertising partners aligned with Ohio Cooperative Living's audience.
   Builds and maintains a prioritized advertising lead list, including contact information, company profiles, and audience alignment.
   Assists in identifying effective prospecting channels such as industry associations, events, directories, and digital platforms.
   Supports the development, organization, and distribution of media kits to prospective advertisers.
   Assists with initial outreach efforts via email, phone, or mail to introduce advertising opportunities.
   Tracks outreach activity, responses, and engagement in a centralized system.
   Supports relationshipbuilding efforts with prospective longterm advertisers.
   Supports post-sale advertising coordination, including advertiser communication on placement, artwork, proofing, and ad approval.
   Collaborate with internal communications and marketing staff to ensure alignment with brand standards and audience needs.
   Provides regular updates and basic reports on advertising lead generation progress.
   Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Preference will be given to a college/university student who is currently enrolled and majoring in communications, advertising, marketing, agri-business, or business-related field. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  

Experience: Demonstration of strong research, organizational, and communication skills is required. Interest in advertising, sales, marketing, and relationshipbuilding. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Basic graphic design experience using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite applications is preferred but not required.

Abilities & Skills: The position is ideal for a motivated, detailoriented individual interested in advertising, communications, marketing, and business development within a missiondriven, notforprofit environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a must have. Ability to adapt to an active environment; multi-tasking is often required. Must be organized and self-motivated. Ability to work independently and as part of team. Ability to quickly learn new tasks and pay attention to detail. Readiness to help when and where needed. Ability to work onsite 40 hours per week during the summer.
