Position Overview

Provide telephone switchboard and communication support for a VA Medical Center, ensuring all incoming calls, paging, and emergency communications are handled promptly and professionally.


Key Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls within 3 rings and route appropriately
  • Provide general information and directory assistance
  • Operate:
    • Telephone switchboard systems
    • Overhead paging and radio communication systems
  • Handle emergency calls (Code Blue, fire alarms, etc.)
  • Dispatch messages and coordinate emergency communications
  • Assist with outgoing and long-distance calls
  • Maintain accurate logs and records
  • Protect patient information in compliance with HIPAA

Qualifications
  • Experience in call center, switchboard, or customer service role
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
