Job description

Are you looking for meaningful, hands-on experience in nonprofit communications that allows you to build a professional portfolio of writing, marketing, graphic design, and storytelling projects?
If so, we'd love for you to join Community Action House as our Communications Intern.
The Communications Intern will support key storytelling and marketing efforts that help advance Community Action House's mission and connect with our broader community. This role involves drafting various forms of content, while helping maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across platforms. The Communications Intern will assist in monthly communications to program participants, support on tracking campaign success, and support the creation of on-brand graphics and campaign materials.
This internship offers meaningful nonprofit communications experience while providing opportunities to strengthen your writing, marketing, design, and storytelling skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
As a part-time internship position, this position offer 10-15 hours a week with the specific hours worked designed to be flexible to work within a school schedule.
We are looking for passionate students pursuing a degree in Marketing or Communications.
Start Date: September 2026
End Date: May 2027
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
Content Creation
  • Draft and edit press releases, blogs, guest stories, and newsletter content that reflects Community Action House's voice and values.
  • Support the development of eNewsletters and email campaigns.
  • Assist in the design and creation of communication materials in line with the organization's visual branding

General Communications Support
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions, team meetings, and Communications Calendar planning.
  • Help track analytics for email engagement to assess impact and optimize future content.
  • Provide support as needed for fundraising campaigns and donor events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and in a compelling voice tailored for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience in creating both long-form content (blogs, press releases) and concise, compelling short-form content for social media.
  • Experience in graphic design.
  • Access to consistent and reliable transportation to travel between locations
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Willingness and interest in continuous learning and adaptation based on your professional interests and organizational needs.
