Job description

Meet Slingshot
At Slingshot Aerospace, we're on a mission to make space safer and more secure for everyone. Our work directly impacts global security, disaster response, climate monitoring, and the critical infrastructure that connects our world. We're a team of builders, thinkers, and problem-solvers who believe that the next generation of space operations will be powered by better data and smarter software.
We move fast, we're not afraid to fail, and we believe the best ideas can come from anywhere-whether you're in engineering, sales, product, or operations. If you want to work on something that truly matters, with people who care deeply about the impact we're making and help shape the future of an industry that's just getting started, you're in the right place.
What You'll Be Launching
As an Account Executive, you will own and grow a portfolio of Department of War (DoW) customers and lead Slingshot's customer engagement and enterprise sales efforts across assigned defense accounts. You will build trusted relationships with senior leaders, program offices, acquisition organizations, and operational users; identify mission needs; and translate those needs into qualified opportunities for Slingshot's space, data, software, and mission solutions. You will lead complex government sales cycles from early customer engagement and requirement shaping through acquisition, contract execution, and account expansion. Your work will directly support Slingshot's growth within priority DoW missions, programs, and long-term customer relationships. Candidate will ideally live in Huntsville, AL or Tampa, FL.
We're building a team of sharp, creative people who love solving hard problems. We value curiosity over ego, initiative over waiting for permission, and people who genuinely care about doing great work. Bring your expertise, your fresh ideas, and your drive-we'll bring the rocket fuel.
Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it)
  • Own and grow a portfolio of assigned DoW accounts, with accountability for customer engagement, pipeline development, bookings, and long-term account growth
  • Develop deep, trusted relationships with senior DoW stakeholders, program offices, acquisition organizations, operational commands, and mission users
  • Drive the full sales lifecycle from opportunity identification and qualification through capture, proposal, contract execution, and expansion
  • Maintain an active customer engagement rhythm that creates early visibility into mission priorities, emerging requirements, funding, acquisition pathways, and competitive dynamics
  • Shape customer requirements and acquisition strategies through early engagement, mission-focused discovery, and solution positioning
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of enterprise opportunities aligned to territory, account, bookings, and revenue targets
  • Develop account plans and customer strategies that identify priority organizations, programs, stakeholders, funding sources, partners, and pathways to contract
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Science, Capture, Programs, and Marketing to deliver customer-aligned proposals, RFIs, demonstrations, briefings, and solutions
  • Translate DoW mission needs into clear internal requirements and communicate customer feedback and market insights to inform product roadmap and go-to-market strategy
  • Forecast accurately and maintain disciplined opportunity, pipeline, and CRM hygiene using established sales processes and tools
  • Represent Slingshot at DoW customer meetings, industry events, mission-focused forums, and other engagements that strengthen relationships and generate new business
  • Perform other duties as assigned (less than 10%)

Pre-flight Checklist
  • 8+ years of enterprise-level B2G sales, business development, or equivalent customer-facing experience, with demonstrated success selling to DoW customers
  • Proven ability to build senior-level government relationships and convert customer engagement into qualified opportunities and contract awards
  • Demonstrated success managing and closing complex, multi-stakeholder and multi-year government sales cycles
  • Strong understanding of DoW procurement, budgeting, appropriations, acquisition pathways, and contracting processes
  • Ability to understand customer missions and operational challenges and position technical solutions around mission outcomes and measurable value
  • Strong communication, executive briefing, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, or equivalent flexibility

Bonus Cargo
  • Existing relationships across DoW commands, program executive offices, program offices, laboratories, acquisition organizations, or operational communities
  • Experience selling space, aerospace, defense, software, data, AI, or mission technology solutions to the U.S. Government
  • Experience shaping requirements and acquisition strategies before formal solicitations are released
  • Familiarity with federal capture, proposal, contracting, and partner strategies in technical sales environments
  • Active or previously held U.S. TS/SCI security clearance
