Job Description:

SYSTEMS ENGINEER PRINCIPAL

The Sr. Unified Communication (UC) Communications Field Engineer is the network/WAN/Cloud interface for all other team members, assisting all UC efforts that interoperate across the WAN. This position is also the principal interface with security, database, and application operations, engineering and implementation services in direct support of all UC functions, to include ensuring all policies, processes, and security protections are complied with. This position works in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, collaborative environment, and requires strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, appropriate judgment, and decision-making skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert level support for the Implementation, Deployment and Engineering of UC services.
  • Work on issues related to performance management, implementation engineering, fault isolation, troubleshooting UC systems that traverse the WAN/Cloud/Managed Services
  • Troubleshoot the following UC solutions as they collaborate and interoperate across a WAN and Cloud environment - Avaya Aura and One-X platforms, Polycom VTC systems, Cisco VTC systems, Webex Meetings and Teams services, Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco Firewalls, Cisco UC systems (Call Manager, Meeting Server, TMS and Expressways)
  • Create firewall/ACL rule requests for system changes, implementations and deployments
  • Manage and provide direction to other Field Engineers supporting various customer regions across the country (including local field site engineers)
  • Skills in the documentation of UC systems and their required services in both word, pdf, and drawing formats (Visio) are required
  • Provide WAN/Cloud subject matter expertise and be the interface with all other engineering teams to facilitate implementation, operations, maintenance and enhancement of Unified Communications services
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical artifacts pertaining to the implementation, engineering, and optimization of Enterprise UC services
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with customers

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or the equivalent and 10 years related experience or a MS and 8 years of experience or the equivalent
  • Expertise and troubleshooting experience with Avaya Aura and One-X platforms, Polycom VTC systems, Cisco VTC systems, Webex Meetings and Teams services, Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco Firewalls, Cisco UC systems (Call Manager, Meeting Server, TMS and Expressways) as they collaborate and interoperate across a WAN and Cloud environment
  • Experience in the UC areas of Instant Messaging (IM), Teaming/Webinars, Video Teleconferencing, Video Streaming, Video Portals, Video on Demand systems and Digital Signage systems over large geographically dispersed networks
  • Expert knowledge of modern implementations of Cloud services, including the setup and deployment of VM based UC systems
  • Expert level experience in implementing Quality of Service (QoS) in large enterprise networks
  • Expert level experience with using packet capture and snifter programs/systems to diagnose issues and validate UC functionality
  • Knowledge on diverse and collaborative UC environments, and how they interoperate across a diverse WAN comprised of switches, wan balancers, firewalls, and routers
  • Skillset equivalent to Cisco CCIE Collaboration, or CCNP Collaboration with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Working experience with implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco IP Telephony and Collaboration Applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience with managing and using Dev Ops concepts
  • Experience with working in an ITIL v3 or v4 framework to deliver enterprise services
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet schedules and deadlines, to multi-task, to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments and pay close attention to detail

Desired Education, Experience, and Skills

  • US Citizen with DHS Public Trust suitability clearance/EOD
  • Experience with any DHS agencies or entities
  • Experience using ServiceNow in a Tier 1 - 4 support role

The likely salary range for this position is $112,840 - $146,050. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
