  • Stay informed about content best practices, industry trends, and emerging communication channels.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of copywriters.
  • Provide feedback, training, constructive critique, and support for employee growth and development.
  • Set management objectives that align with overall marketing goals.
  • Manage writing assignments, project workflows, timelines, and competing priorities.
  • Guide the team toward established goals while maintaining strong standards for writing and editorial quality.

Content & Messaging Strategy

  • Collaborate with creative, design, digital, and marketing teams to develop messaging strategies and content plans.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into effective audience-focused communications.
  • Oversee retention communication strategies designed to nurture new contacts and deepen relationships with existing audiences.
  • Work alongside vendors, managers, and internal partners to coordinate communication initiatives.
  • Participate in broader marketing meetings and strategy sessions involving direct mail, email, and the call center.

Direct Mail

  • Manage the Joel Osteen Ministries and Lakewood Church direct-mail lifecycle from campaign inception through thank-you and gift acknowledgments.

  • Provide quality assurance for direct-mail materials moving into production.
  • Coordinate necessary approvals throughout the creative routing process, including final approval of artwork, formats, mock-ups, and proofs.
  • Work with the direct-mail agency to review past campaign performance and help determine effective future strategies under the direction of the Director of Marketing.

Congregation Communications

  • Manage marketing communications for church bulletins, collateral, emails, the call center, signature events, and other congregation-facing communication needs.
  • Ensure congregation communications are clear, accurate, audience-appropriate, and aligned with Lakewood Church’s voice and mission.

The Communications Manager will also perform other related duties as assigned.
