About Commonwealth Joe

Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters (CWJ) is a DMV-based specialty coffee company delivering award-winning cold brew where people work, live, and play. We operate a flagship cafe in Arlington, VA, a roastery and brewery in Beltsville, MD, and a remote corporate team supporting our cold brew on tap program nationwide.

Proudly the #1 cold brew company sold in kegs, CWJ serves more than 500,000 coffee enthusiasts across 25 states. Our commitment to craftsmanship and community has made our cold brew a staple in workplaces and homes alike.

We believe in making amazing coffee approachable and accessible to all. We are a group of passionate coffee lovers with diverse backgrounds and interests, united by our commitment to living out Commonwealth Joe's values in every interaction with each other, our customers, and our community.

About the Role

Our drivers and technicians are the most frequent point of contact between Commonwealth Joe and our customers. Every delivery and every service call is a moment of truth for the brand.

The Delivery Technician is where our delivery team becomes truly autonomous. This is Level 2 of our five-tier Delivery Career Development Roadmap, and it is built for the person who can run a full solo route, install and service Nitro Cold Brew keg systems, and solve technical problems in the field without picking up the phone. You are trusted in the truck alone, and you actively shape the customer experience on every stop.

This role rewards judgment and ownership. When a coupler handle comes off or a system needs a part, you do not open a ticket and move on. You walk back to the truck, grab the part, and fix it on the spot. That instinct is what earns customer trust and renews accounts, and it is exactly what we are looking for.

The Opportunity to Grow

At CWJ, advancement is based on what you demonstrate, not how long you have been here. Every tier comes with clear responsibilities, measurable advancement criteria, and a published pay band, so you always know exactly where you stand and what it takes to move up.

When customers recognize you by name, that recognition shows up in your paycheck.

What You'll Do (Essential Functions)
  • Run a full solo route independently, including complex deliveries and keg system installations
  • Perform field troubleshooting and resolve common technical issues without escalation
  • Carry common replacement parts on the truck and make on-the-spot repairs where appropriate
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and reporting standards across monthly reconciliation

  • Help maintain efficiency and consistency across routes

About You

  • You are organized and accurate with inventory, parts, and reporting
  • You are punctual, reliable, and communicate clearly with teammates and supervisors
  • You are motivated to grow and willing to help newer drivers do the same
What You Bring

Required

  • Valid driver's license held for at least 2 years (this is a Non-CDL position)
  • Proven experience running solo delivery routes in 16 ft to 26 ft box trucks or similar

  • Comfort using basic tools and hardware
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 150+ lbs to waist height

Your Path Forward

Advancement to Senior Delivery Technician is concrete and measurable. You move up by demonstrating things like completing keg and BIB system installations independently, resolving the large majority of field issues without escalation, holding inventory accuracy at a high standard, keeping customer-reported issues low, and beginning to mentor newer drivers. Your quarterly scorecard tracks all of it, so the path is never a mystery.
