CBI is a Commercial General Contractor and Construction Management firm serving clients throughout New England. Our work includes ground-up construction, tenant improvements, and renovations across the retail, restaurant, corporate, and commercial sectors.

We are looking for an estimator with strong commercial construction knowledge who can take ownership of the estimating and preconstruction process—from initial project review and conceptual budgeting through final bid and turnover to the project team.

What You'll Do

  • Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope, risks, constructability concerns, logistics, sequencing, and schedule requirements.
  • Prepare detailed conceptual budgets, estimates, and hard-bid proposals.
  • Perform takeoffs and develop comprehensive scopes of work.
  • Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals.
  • Identify scope gaps and ensure complete trade coverage.
  • Develop bid strategies and work closely with subcontractors and vendors throughout the bidding process.
  • Prepare client proposals including alternates, allowances, qualifications, and exclusions.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, design teams, and clients.

  • Present estimates and proposals to company leadership and clients as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Commercial construction estimating experience with a General Contractor or Construction Management firm.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, scopes of work, subcontractor pricing, and project costs.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong subcontractor and vendor relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering accurate, high-quality work.

Why Commonwealth Building?

At CBI, you'll join an experienced team with a long history in commercial construction and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects throughout New England. We value collaboration, accountability, strong relationships, and providing our clients with a high level of service from preconstruction through project completion.

Benefits

CBI offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:
