The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we're advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Senior Global Procurement Lead. This position will provide leadership, direction and focus to ensure operational excellence for the suppliers providing finished goods and direct materials within the Packaging and Finished Good Kitting commodities to the QuidelOrtho plants and distribution centers. Senior Global Procurement Lead will have responsibility for cost/quality/delivery/service including supplier controls, leading the development of the commodity strategy, contract negotiations, productivity initiatives, supplier selection and sourcing projects and overall commodity management, supporting across QuidelOrtho business units. Senior Global Procurement Lead will lead and partner with functional areas to support continuous improvement, supplier changes, new product launches and strategic business initiatives.

This position will be onsite in Rochester, NY, Carlsbad, CA San Diego, CA or Pompano Beach, FL.

The Responsibilities
  • 20% Responsible for driving supplier selection, serve as lead negotiator for complex, high value transactions including the support of due diligence activities, ensuring all aspects of commercial, operation and supply chain in contract execution, focusing on supplier quality, total cost and performance while minimizing risk exposure. Partner with supply chain and finance teams such that suppliers meet the required standards for financial health, quality management, IP protection, and risk management profiles.

  • 20% Responsible for developing the Global Commodity Strategy, Asset Lifecycle Total Cost Management strategies as applicable to the commodity.

  • 20% Execute strategic sourcing and relationship management strategies for supply partners that enable new product development to meet their technical and cost objectives while ensuring quality and driving innovation into the business. Such as generating supplier performance scorecards - OTIF, Quality, PPV participating in supplier business reviews, supplier capacity tracking e.g. shift patterns, OEE, utilization etc., work to resolve escalated supply issues. Ensuring adherence to supplier management/governance standards including assessment, classification, mitigation and adding suppliers to the Approved Supplier List.

  • 10%Develop/Foster supplier partnerships across the company. Understand business/operation issues cross functionally, communicates the consequences to QuidelOrtho Leadership and develop proposal to mitigate / resolve the challenge

  • 20% Partner with Supply Chain, R&D, Product Management and Finance to drive supplier process, quality, and compliance improvements to achieve optimal value, pricing and service performance. Identify and progress annual continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with the sourcing strategy & business needs (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.).

  • 5% Facilitate supplier change notices or material obsolescence with business partner team.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business discipline, Operations Management, Engineering or relevant technical discipline. Professionally recognized qualification in related field

  • Experienced in developing and sustaining products in compliance with ISO standards and in an FDA regulated environment

  • 8 to 10 years Technical / Procurement Management experience in medical device and/or a regulated manufacturing environment in healthcare or high technology.

  • Proven track record of managing employees, building high-performance supply organization and ensuring delivery of high-quality products on-time and on budget

  • Previous experience in packaging commodity procurement, an advantage

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Power BI

  • 5% travel (domestic and international), depending on supply base and business needs.

  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

Internal Partners:

Global Procurement Leadership, Finance, Legal, Product Management, R&D, Product Engineering. To deliver supplier strategies that achieve optimal value, pricing and service performance.

External Partners:

Suppliers under management, Potential suppliers. Developing strong mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to meet technical and cost objectives while minimizing risk exposure

The Work Environment

Traditional office workspace or remote/home (hybrid). Flexibility to manage suppliers in different time zones. Travel: Up to 5% - US and international

The Physical Demands

Typically, 40% of time in meetings; 50% of time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone, doing analytical work and 5% travel to work related events. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $102,360.25 - $133,068.33 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays.
