SALARY RANGE: $120,900.00 - $166,212.50

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the general direction of the Mgr, Commercial Brokerage is responsible for the overall management operations of the Risk Consultants.  Responsible for overseeing and providing grain market information, advice and the development of merchandising strategies to accounts serviced through the Mid-Co Office.

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHP

Supervises, leads, and develops the Commodity Risk Consultants. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Achieves budgeted sales and profitability goals.  Utilizes strategic planning and controls to ensure that progressive and sound programs are developed and implemented.  

Responsible for working and consulting with grain elevator managers and merchandisers in the establishment of marketing and hedging programs tailored to the company needs.  Monitors customer’s margin accounts.  Places customer’s futures orders and reports fills.

Identifies and develops new accounts for the company.  Provides overall management for the solicitation practices of the Commodity Risk Consultants.  Maintains contact and cultivates relationships with a group of companies that offer potential as future clients of MID-CO.

Ensures that the hedging programs are handled in conformance with the rules and regulations of exchanges and regulatory agencies.

Develops MID-CO recommendations on spread strategy.  Keeps current market outlooks with special emphasis on basis and spreads.  Establishes and maintains a healthy information-sharing environment with the Bloomington, Illinois staff using cash grain and future market contacts within and outside the GROWMARK System.

Presents at educational meetings and seminars and provides market outlooks and strategy recommendations at grain meetings.  Participates in the coordination, planning and presentation of marketing conferences.

Oversees the placement of orders with appropriate exchanges and other related duties.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Brings to the attention of the Division Manager, Grain Risk account futures market positions which are believed to be high risk.  Makes market recommendations which are consistent with the individual account’s ability to bear risk and the account manager’s level of market expertise.

Takes immediate action to correct any trade error which occurs and reports full details to appropriate parties.

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Responsible for encouraging, supporting, and promoting innovative practices, ideas, and technologies within the team.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a college degree in agricultural economics, marketing or equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in marketing and commodity trading to demonstrate the ability to provide commodity marketing leadership to the MID-CO Risk Management Operations.  

Normally requires registration with the NFA as an AP or the ability to pass the NASD Series 3 Exam and other appropriate licenses or certifications or the ability to obtain these licenses.  

Prefer knowledge of cooperative philosophies and principles.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel independently and overnight.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
