Job description

WHO WE ARE:
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is a proud Family Friendly Certified Workplace dedicated to supporting the Texas economy by helping workers find jobs and employers find skilled staff. The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division provides a vital safety net for the Texas workforce. Funded by employer taxes, the UI program offers temporary partial income replacement to workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. Our division oversees the administration of unemployment benefits and tax collection activities. We are currently seeking a Management Analyst II (UI Operations Specialist) to join our UI Administration and Operational Support Department, conveniently located in the heart of downtown Austin at 1411 Brazos Street.

WHO YOU ARE:
A highly organized professional with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You are a proactive self-starter who will work under general supervision and moderate latitude for independent judgement to achieve results. You possess the expertise to perform complex (journey level) UI administrative and policy analysis work. You are committed to excellence in program assessment and operational support.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Monitor and review current UI organizational, procedural or operational systems for effectiveness, efficiency and conformance to established guidelines.
- Consult with management to initiate studies; identify priorities; and define study scope, purpose, objectives, time frames and resource requirements.
- Develop recommendations for improvement and corrective action to standardize or improve UI organizational systems.
- Research historical, current or projected data to identify problems, causes, and areas for which procedural or system changes are indicated.
- Conduct and manage special projects.
- Analyze new or proposed legislation or regulations to determine their effect on program operations and management.
- Research new or improved business and management practices for application to UI programs or operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Initiate, manage and/or support UI Administration and Operational Support projects.
- Handle high-priority UI program issues.
- Prepare concise reports on organizational studies or data analysis projects.
- Represent the UI Division in departmental meetings and projects.
YOU QUALIFY WITH:
- One year of experience in management analysis, organizational development, or methods and systems work.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
