Job description

We are seeking highly motivated and professional Security Officers (OPEN AVAILABILITY) to join our team in safeguarding private industry facilities. As a key member of our security force, you will ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and assets by conducting proactive patrols, monitoring security systems, and responding swiftly to incidents. This role requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
You will play a critical role in maintaining operational integrity by enforcing policies, reporting incidents, and collaborating with team members to identify and mitigate potential risks. Key Responsibilities:
Patrol and Monitoring:
  • Conduct thorough patrols of assigned premises, including outdoor perimeters, parking lots, restricted areas, and high-traffic zones.
  • Use surveillance equipment to continuously monitor activities on and around the property.

Access Control:
  • Verify the credentials of employees, contractors, and visitors to grant or deny access to restricted areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of all entries, exits, and deliveries for audit and compliance purposes.

Incident Response:
  • Respond immediately to alarms, emergencies, and unusual activities, including medical incidents, fire alarms, or breaches of security.
  • De-escalate potentially volatile situations while maintaining a calm and authoritative demeanor.

Reporting and Documentation:
  • Create clear, detailed, and accurate reports for all security-related incidents and daily activities.
  • Document maintenance or safety issues observed during patrols and escalate them to the appropriate department.

Customer Service:
  • Provide friendly, approachable assistance to employees, visitors, and clients while maintaining a professional presence.
  • Offer directions, answer questions, and address concerns with tact and efficiency.

Policy Enforcement:
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, such as smoking, parking, and dress code regulations.
  • Address violations of site-specific rules and procedures with diplomacy and professionalism.

Safety Assurance:
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and other safety equipment to ensure readiness.
  • Participate in creating and executing emergency evacuation plans.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  •  Work closely with team members, site supervisors, and client representatives to address concerns or implement new security measures.
  • Maintain constant communication through radios, phones, or other assigned equipment to ensure seamless operations.

Specialized Duties:
  • Assist in event security by managing crowd control, monitoring for suspicious activity, and ensuring venue safety.
  • Conduct investigations into thefts, vandalism, or workplace incidents in coordination with management and law enforcement if needed.

Training and Development:
  • Stay up to date with new security technologies, policies, and procedures by participating in training sessions and workshops.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior officers to maintain a cohesive and effective team.

Emergency Management:
  • Act as the primary point of contact during emergencies, including contacting emergency services and guiding them to the scene.
  • Assist with first-aid and other immediate care needs until professionals arrive.

Proactive Risk Assessment:
  • Identify vulnerabilities or potential security risks during routine patrols and recommend enhancements.
  • Stay alert for cybersecurity risks, such as unauthorized use of electronic systems or suspicious digital activity, if applicable.

Asset Protection:
  • Monitor sensitive areas with valuable assets, such as warehouses or data centers, ensuring strict adherence to protocols.
  • Escort personnel carrying high-value items or sensitive materials to minimize risk.

Cultural Sensitivity and Discretion:
  • Respect cultural and workplace sensitivities while addressing issues with employees and visitors.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive business information and security matters.

Qualifications:
Education and Licensing:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Valid security officer license or certification, as required by state and local laws (e.g., Pocket Card).
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid and Stop the bleed certification (preferred or must be obtained within a designated timeframe).
  • FEMA certifications: IS 906 (workplace security awareness), IS 907 (Active shooter), IS912 (retail security awareness). (Preferred or must be obtained within a designated time frame).
  • OSHA 10 hr. general industry LESC certification. (Preferred or must be obtained within a designated time frame).
  • Additional certifications in conflict resolution, defensive tactics, or related areas are a plus.

Experience:
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience working with security systems such as CCTV, alarm panels, or access control systems is an advantage.
  • Customer service or public-facing experience demonstrating professionalism and effective communication.

Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with operating surveillance equipment, two-way radios, and other security tools.
  • Basic computer literacy for incident reporting and monitoring security systems.
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods  and respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Must be able to lift and carry as needed.
  • Capability to work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and in adverse weather conditions.
