West Tower Project Description:

Construction of a new ground-up 10 story Research Tower including wet/ dry labs, offices, and vivarium. Core labs will be provided on every lab floor and data center dedicated to West Tower will be on 3rd floor. The program includes meeting center on 2nd floor with reception area. The landscape garden and gathering area will be provided at remainder of the site.

What will you be doing:

The Construction Project Manager (West Tower Project) leads all aspects of the development of all assigned projects from inception through project close-out and is responsible for the successful delivery of these projects. The Construction Project Manager is responsible for directing and managing outsourced construction management firms, architectural firms, and general contractors. Additionally, the Construction Project Manager will collaborate and work with the department architects, resource accounting and support staff from initial project inception through successful project completion. Oversees construction projects assigned at the Main Medical Center and/or off-site, including the scheduling of and coordination of vendors, monitoring progress and providing progress reports including through internal project management software, meetings and reporting structures.

  • Responsible for leading team assigned to departmental projects. Specifically, for Project Management, Cost Control, Technical Advisory Staff etc.
  • Participates in entire project evaluation and development. Makes appropriate project recommendations to the department manager and department project managers concerning cost, scheduling and construction issues.
  • Manages work of department staff on all new projects including Support Specialist, Project Coordinators, Planner/Designer, Interiors staff, Signage/Wayfinding and MAs. Works closely with users and stakeholders to budget their time and commitment in order to receive the appropriate operational feedback and input.
  • Consistently initiates and participates in productivity and quality improvements, including benchmarking with other facilities and supervising progress.
  • Prepares, reviews and monitors budgets and all project dollar expenditure financial performance.
  • Supervises the construction process including the scheduling of vendors, monitoring of progress and providing progress reports. Reviews and evaluates the general condition of the project location as it applies to current or future projects.
  • Ensures project compliance with all Medical Center polices, OSHPD policies, OSHA requirements, federal/state/local regulations and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Communicates with customers in a positive and professional manner. Serves as both part of the design team and construction team. Makes contact on a routine basis with customers and works closely with all Facilities Management team members to improve customer service, including other internal departments that contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
  • Leads all aspects of the Maintenance and updating of project data into a CSMC project management and as-built plan system.

Experience Requirements:

Five (5) plus years of experience in the construction and renovation of health care facilities is required with proven track record to coordinate all phases of health facility construction.

Educational/Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field. (preferred)

PMP (Project Management Professional) preferred.
