What is a commission traveling bartender?

A Commission Traveling Bartender is a professional bartender who travels to various locations, such as events, parties, or different venues, to provide bartending services. Instead of earning a fixed hourly wage, they are typically compensated through commissions based on sales, tips, or a percentage of the event revenue. This role requires flexibility, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to adapt to different environments and drink menus. Traveling bartenders often work independently or as part of an agency and must have strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, and event service. They are responsible for setting up, serving, and sometimes even supplying their own equipment and ingredients.

How does a commission traveling bartender typically manage their schedule and workflow across multiple venues?

As a commission traveling bartender, you’ll often work with a flexible and varied schedule, moving between different bars, events, or venues based on bookings and demand. This requires strong organizational skills to coordinate shifts, travel logistics, and client expectations. You’ll need to adapt quickly to new environments and teams, often learning each venue’s policies and customer preferences on the fly. Maintaining clear communication with event coordinators and venue managers is key to ensuring smooth operations and maximizing your earning potential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a commission traveling bartender, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Commission Traveling Bartender, you need a solid understanding of mixology, bartending techniques, and relevant liquor laws, often bolstered by bartending certifications or training courses. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management tools is typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability, and strong organizational abilities help you provide top-notch customer service and manage dynamic event environments. These skills are crucial for maximizing tips and commissions, ensuring client satisfaction, and successfully handling the unique challenges of traveling bartending roles.

Urgently Hiring. Start ASAP with paid training.
This is a full-time W-2 role where your performance directly impacts what you earn and how quickly you advance.
Why Southern National Roofing
Southern National Roofing is where effort turns into opportunity. We train from the ground up, promote based on performance, and reward people who execute. Many of our leaders started in entry-level roles such as retail, customer service, warehouse, hospitality, restaurant server, bartender, receptionist, or administrative assistant positions before building successful careers in sales.
We're a $20M+ residential roofing company, ranked #93 on the Roofing Contractor Top 100 list, #116 of the Top 500 Largest Remodeling Firms in the Nation, #379 on the Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Companies list, and are BBB Accredited with an A+ rating. We're also a Top 2% Master Elite Roofer, a designation earned by fewer than 2% of contractors nationwide.
If you're confident talking to people, like being active, and want a real path forward beyond traditional retail, warehouse, hotel, or customer service jobs, this is the role for you.

As a Field Inspector / Appointment Setter, you'll work in residential neighborhoods identifying homes that may qualify for a free roof inspection and scheduling inspection appointments with homeowners.
This role is ideal for people with backgrounds in customer service, retail, hospitality, bartending, serving, warehouse work, administrative assistant roles, or receptionist positions who want to transition into a higher-earning career path.
You are not selling and not climbing roofs.
You are inspecting from the ground, educating homeowners, and setting appointments for our in-home inspection team.

  • Walk assigned residential neighborhoods
  • Speak directly with homeowners at their homes
  • Perform basic, ground-level visual inspections
  • Explain our free roof inspection service
  • Schedule inspection appointments
  • Work outdoors and stay active

Compensation

  • Hourly pay + commission + performance bonuses
  • Many first-year team members earn $40,000-$70,000+
  • Earnings vary based on performance and consistency

Schedule
  • On-site role
  • Monday-Saturday availability between 9am-7pm
  • No overnight travel
  • Team transportation provided from the office

If you're looking to move beyond retail, warehouse, restaurant, or hospitality work and want a role with paid training, weekly pay, and real advancement, apply today.
We are urgently hiring and training new team members now.

Benefits
  • Average first-year income range: $40,000 - $70,000+ (Hourly Pay + Commission + Bonuses)
  • Recognition and rewards for high performance
  • Health + Dental + Vision Benefits
  • 401K
