Job description

Subject: Cleans Office Buildings, Community Center

Day Porter Service Requirements

The Day Porter shall perform on-demand cleaning duties throughout the workday to support continuous cleaning maintenance of high-traffic areas. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Restocking restroom supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms throughout the day or shift
  • Removing overflow of trash and recyclables from common areas and replacing liners as needed
  • Spot cleaning spills, messes, and high touch areas
  • Wiping down counters, tables, glass doors, and other surfaces
  • Responding to spills and other unexpected janitorial issues
  • May help move bulky items as requested
  • Addressing cleaning services request from facilities or Commission Staff
  • Day Porters shall report to the Contractor's designated on-site supervisor or project manager and maintain effective communication with Commission Staff.

Day Porters must be available during Commission-Designated hours, typically within the timeframe of 6 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise specified in a task order request. Exact Schedules and shift durations will be detailed in each Task Order.


  • Qualifications Education/Experience/Skills amp; Abilities Required :
High school education or equivalent preferred.
2 year or more years of experience preferred.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to read and write such as to be able to read labels on cleaning and detergent materials, disinfecting solutions, and so forth.
Ability to operate large powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning and buffing equipment.
Ability to interact and/or work with faculty, students, staff, and visitors in a respectful and courteous manner.
Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk or otherwise move about campus on a continuous basis.
Ability to ascend/descend stairs on a regular basis in order to sufficiently clean them.
Valid Driver’s license preferred.
