Security Officer - Pool

The Athens State University Security Officer will report to the Chief of Security for providing security for the university. The officer shall provide courteous aid to visitors and students. Assist students, faculty, staff and visitors in locating buildings and other general information. Safeguard equipment and buildings. Lock buildings, secure windows, turn off unnecessary lights. Make visual and physical checks of buildings, parking lots and grounds at intervals by vehicle and on foot. Inspect areas of safety hazards. Be knowledgeable of campus rules and regulations. Maintain traffic and parking enforcement.

Qualifications required: Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. A high school diploma or its equivalent. A State Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission Certification. Firearms certification. Law enforcement related experience. Valid Alabama Driver's license. Essential physical requirements: Physical agility and ability to perform general law enforcement duties.
