Our work ranges from storefront signs and monument signs to multi-site branding programs, illuminated signage, wayfinding systems, and custom architectural signage. Every project requires accuracy, technical expertise, clear communication, and a commitment to excellence.

We're seeking an experienced Commercial Sign Project Manager & Estimator to become one of the most critical members of our operations team. This position serves as the technical bridge between Sales, Design, Permitting, Production, Purchasing, and Installation, ensuring every project is complete, accurate, buildable, and ready for production before design work even begins.

Experience in the commercial sign industry is strongly preferred.

Position Summary

The Commercial Sign Project Manager & Estimator is responsible for validating every project before it enters production, preparing accurate estimates, procuring production materials, coordinating technical requirements, and ensuring projects move efficiently from sale through installation.

This individual acts as the company's technical gatekeeper-preventing costly mistakes before they happen by identifying missing information, verifying constructability, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring every project is positioned for success.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, technically minded, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and accountability are essential.

Primary ResponsibilitiesProject Review & Technical Validation

Review every incoming project to ensure it is complete, accurate, and production-ready before Design begins.

Validate:

  • Customer information

  • Sign types and specifications

  • Dimensions and quantities

  • Materials and finishes

  • Colors

  • Artwork and logos

  • Site survey documentation

  • Installation requirements

  • Shipping and installation locations

  • Tenant sign criteria and required documents

  • Design notes

  • Special instructions

  • Permit requirements

  • Engineering requirements

  • Structural considerations

  • Customer expectations

Identify incomplete information early and return projects to Sales for correction before they move forward.

Estimating

Prepare complete and accurate project estimates including:

  • Fabrication costs

  • Installation costs

  • Labor calculations

  • Bills of Material (BOM)

  • Equipment rentals

  • Crane and lift requirements

  • Outsourced fabrication

  • Specialty subcontractors

  • Freight and shipping

  • Vendor pricing

Partner with the Sales Team to develop competitive, technically accurate pricing while maintaining company profitability.

Purchasing & Vendor Management

Coordinate procurement for all production and installation materials.

Responsibilities include:

  • Purchasing production materials

  • Purchasing installation materials

  • Obtaining vendor quotations

  • Comparing pricing

  • Negotiating costs

  • Maintaining vendor relationships

  • Coordinating deliveries

  • Expediting critical materials

  • Monitoring inventory usage

  • Ensuring material availability prior to production

Project Coordination

Collaborate closely with:

  • Sales

  • Design

  • Permitting

  • Production

  • Installation

  • Vendors

  • Engineers

  • General Contractors

  • Property Managers

Maintain clear communication throughout each project's lifecycle while proactively identifying issues before they impact schedules or budgets.

Quality Control

Serve as the company's technical quality gatekeeper by ensuring every project is:

QualificationsRequired
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial sign estimating, project management, manufacturing, construction, or a closely related industry.

  • Strong understanding of commercial sign fabrication and installation methods.

  • Ability to read architectural drawings, shop drawings, and construction documents.

  • Experience estimating labor, materials, and installation costs.

  • Strong purchasing and vendor management experience.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Self-directed with excellent problem-solving ability.

Preferred
  • Direct experience in the commercial sign industry.

  • Knowledge of illuminated signage, monument signs, channel letters, pylon signs, ADA signage, and architectural signage.

  • Experience with Printer's Plan or similar production software.

  • Knowledge of permitting and municipal sign codes.

  • Experience coordinating engineering requirements.

  • Experience with subcontractor management.

  • Familiarity with value engineering and cost optimization.
