Job description

Cooper University Health Care is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving residents and visitors throughout Cape May County. The system includes Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, three urgent care facilities; Cape Regional Physicians Associates with primary care and specialty care providers delivering services in multiple locations throughout Cape May County; The Cancer Center at Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, the Claire C. Brodesser Surgery Center; AMI at Cooper, Miracles Fitness and numerous freestanding outpatient facilities providing wound care, lab, and physical therapy services. This position will oversee the Cooper Cape security program, ensuring the effective management of the security department. This role involves the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and systems that support the security program. Additionally, the Security Director will manage the parking program, ensuring accessible and convenient parking facilities for patients, visitors, and team members.

  • Plans, organizes and directs the functions and daily operations of the Security Services Department.
  • Manages overall campus and organizational security program, identifies risks, conducts investigations, and makes recommendations.
  • Ensure enforcement of all regulations, policies and procedures essential to a safe and secure campus environment.
  • Maintain proper staffing while ensuring that the team is well trained and engaged.
  • Continually assesses security program for effectiveness and makes recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Manages the parking program including parking assignments and enforcement.
  • Maintains excellent working relationship with local law enforcement agencies, community organizations, civic groups, and other stakeholders to collaborate and build partnerships
  • Creating and maintaining a culture of excellent service in department by ensuring leadership must-haves are in place
  • Addresses security concerns and staff feedback timely and with empathy.

  • 6-10 year's experience required.
  • Progressive healthcare security experience is preferred.

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • Criminal Justice or related field.

  • IAHSS, CHPA, or CPP preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers
  • Leadership - Ability to lead a diverse team while setting expectations
  • Improvement – Coordinate a successful training program for security team
  • Planning – Ability to assess, develop, implement, and monitor multiple initiatives
