Job description

A well-established California public law practice is seeking an experienced municipal attorney to join its Citrus Heights office. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys advising public agencies, attending public meetings, and serving as a strategic partner to cities and public boards on impactful community matters.

The role focuses on transactional and advisory municipal law work, including land use, zoning, CEQA/NEPA compliance, development agreements, redevelopment matters, and day-to-day governance counseling for California public entities.

Responsibilities

  • Advise cities and public agencies on municipal law matters
  • Serve as legal advisor to planning commissions and public boards
  • Counsel clients regarding Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act compliance
  • Draft and negotiate development agreements and related transactional documents
  • Advise on zoning, CUPs, variances, and land use issues
  • Attend and advise during public meetings and hearings
  • Prepare ordinances, resolutions, agreements, memoranda, and legal research

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of municipal law experience
  • Experience representing California public agencies
  • Strong advisory and transactional background
  • Experience advising planning commissions, city councils, or public boards
  • Knowledge of Brown Act, PRA, and Political Reform Act compliance
  • Active California Bar license in good standing

Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary range: $170,000 โ€“ $200,000 DOE
