EXCITING CAREER OPPORTUNITY - AREA CHIEF ENGINEER
Phoenix, Arizona | Multi-Property Hotel Engineering
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Area Chief Engineer to oversee the engineering and maintenance operations of multiple hotel properties throughout the Phoenix area.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong hospitality engineering professional who is ready to take the next step into a multi-property leadership role. The position will be based out of the DoubleTree Phoenix Midtown(4000 N. Central Ave. 85012) and will provide engineering leadership, technical expertise, and operational support across the assigned Phoenix-area portfolio.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Area Chief Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Providing leadership and oversight of maintenance and engineering operations across multiple hotel properties for 1 full service & 3 limited-service properties.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive preventive maintenance programs.
  • Maintaining hotel mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical, pool equipment, kitchen equipment, and other building systems.
  • Ensuring properties remain compliant with applicable fire/life-safety requirements, building codes, brand standards, inspections, and local regulations.
  • Identifying building and equipment deficiencies and developing appropriate repair or replacement plans.
  • Responding to and providing leadership during emergency maintenance situations and major equipment failures.
  • Recruiting, training, developing, and providing direction to property-level engineering and maintenance team members.
  • Establishing accountability for work orders, preventive maintenance, inspections, equipment logs, and completion of engineering projects.
  • Conducting regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs and opportunities to improve overall building condition.
  • Managing vendor relationships and coordinating outside contractors when specialized services are required.
  • Obtaining and reviewing competitive bids for major repairs, equipment replacements, and capital projects.
  • Assisting with the development and execution of capital improvement projects and engineering budgets.
  • Monitoring repair and maintenance expenses while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and control costs.
  • Partner with General Managers, Remington's Regional Director, Senior Vice President of Facilities, and property leadership teams to establish engineering priorities, address critical property needs, execute capital and preventive maintenance initiatives, and ensure engineering operations support guest satisfaction, operational excellence, safety, and the long-term condition of each property.
  • Supporting multiple properties while establishing consistent engineering standards throughout the Phoenix portfolio.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will have extensive hotel or commercial building engineering experience with strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, pool, and life-safety systems.
We are looking for someone who is more than a technician. The successful candidate will be a leader, problem solver, planner, and mentor who can assess the needs of multiple properties, establish priorities, develop engineering teams, and create sustainable preventive maintenance programs.
Previous Chief Engineer, Area Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering, or multi-property engineering experience is strongly preferred. Hospitality experience is highly desirable.
