Job description

Repairs, tests, and maintains electrical equipment, machinery, and systems such as generators, alternators, motors, and intercommunication systems, makes inspection rounds of electrical equipment and maintains records and schedules of tasks and inspections. Troubleshoot, repair, replace, install, maintain, and operate a wide variety of electrical equipment used on overhead/underground lines, substations and emergency generators (9KW to 6.6MW). Prepare reports, material requisitions and other forms required

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have five (5) years of related experience or 10,000 hours. Must have experience working with high voltages ranging from 600V to 34,500V Must have a good background in electrical theory

Must have experience in the operation of heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, pressure digger (auger), digger / derrick (boom truck) and forklifts. Must be able to utilize basic hand tools and testers such as voltmeters, ammeters, and phase rotation meters, and must be knowledgeable in utilizing specialized test equipment. Must be able to work jobs utilizing various rubber goods such as gloves & blankets.

Must be able to work in confined spaces, hot/cold environments, work on ladders, scaffolds, and bucket trucks. Must be able work well with others and provide suggestions/ideas pertaining to work assignments. Must be able to work on weekends, nights, contingencies, standby watch and able to respond to emergencies when recalled.

Must be safety orientated while performing tasks and be able to accept responsibility for actions taken. Must be able to work independently, under time constraints and deadlines, and safely complete tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to work from blue prints, drawings, layouts, manuals or other literature.

Power Generation: Must be able to recognize hazards and perform first aid and CPR. Must have knowledge of road/highway safety procedures when transporting or towing generators. Must have experience in power generation and distribution breakers, switching devices, transformers, cables, control equipment, manual and automatic transfer equipment.

Must be able to conform to old and new technology. Line/Substation: Must have experience in the operation of heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, pressure digger (auger), digger/derrick (boom truck) and forklifts. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) certification.

Meter/Relay: Must be able to perform preventative maintenance, calibrations and repairs on substation relays, switchboard meters, voltage regulators, various type gauges, KWH meters and other control protective devices. Must have experience working with SEL-type relays and meters. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office applications.

Must be able to perform duties in accordance with preventative maintenance instructions and national standards or guidelines. NOTE: The duties/responsibilities and qualifications/skills listed in this position description are subject to change in accordance with operational and contractual requirements. Desired: Apprenticeship or Technical Certification, and a valid Class AB Guam Driver's License.Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
