Job description

Overview
Candidate will be responsible for engineering material handling systems. Each system is custom designed per client based on the optimal solution. This requires a team effort of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, controls, software, and project management. The team will develop and implement a design concept that satisfies the customer's requirements for safety, functionality, reliability, throughput, and expense.
Responsibilities
  1. Designs/Enhances conveyor systems as well as various automated and semi-automated material handling systems; may work on phases of a larger project or an entire smaller project
  2. Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements and specifications
  3. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
  4. Creates approval, permit, and installation drawings using AutoCAD
  5. Obtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders
  6. Monitors the project schedule, engineering time, and material costs
  7. Works with other disciplines on the project team to make sure the engineered solution and all equipment fit within system confines and constraints
  8. Travels up to 20% to measure buildings, inventory equipment, commission systems, and interface with customers
  9. Participates in continuous improvement projects
  10. Resolves engineering issues by working with customers, vendors, and other team members

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial, or equivalent experience
  2. Minimum of 2 years of material handling related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
  1. AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks proficiency
  2. Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
  3. Ability to handle intermediate size project assignments with minimal supervision
  4. Knowledge of the material handling business and ability to assist across teams and divisions
  5. Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  7. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  8. Team-oriented and collaborative
  9. Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  10. Ability to learn new technology
  11. Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
