Position Overview
We are seeking a Concrete Quality Control Inspector to support production and quality assurance in a precast and prestressed concrete manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for performing inspections, verifying reinforcement placement, monitoring concrete quality, and maintaining accurate records throughout the production process.
Candidates with quality control experience in concrete production are strongly encouraged to apply. ACI Field Technician Grade I and/or PCI Level I or II certifications are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Pour Inspections
- Perform pre-pour inspections of precast and prestressed concrete members
- Review detailed construction drawings to verify reinforcement placement, embedded hardware, and panel layout
- Ensure formwork is clean, prepared, and ready for concrete placement
Reinforcement and Cage Inspections
- Inspect steel precast reinforcement cages before placement in concrete forms
- Verify reinforcement details including:
- Reinforcement spacing
- Reinforcement size
- Reinforcement counts by type
- Bend diagrams and reinforcement configuration
- Confirm materials match the bill of materials and project specifications
Drawing Interpretation & Coordination
- Interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
- Identify and report discrepancies including:
- Incorrect dimensions
- Plate or hardware orientation issues
- Missing or incorrect components
- Communicate issues promptly with project coordinators and production teams
Prestressing Operations
- Assist with and lead strand stressing operations
- Perform stressing calculations
- Ensure the process is conducted safely and accurately
Production Communication
- Coordinate with production supervisors and crew leads to resolve dimensional or quality concerns
Safety Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures
- Follow guidelines provided by the Safety Manager and internal training programs
Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain detailed records of inspections and materials, including:
- Pre-pour inspection reports (digital and paper)
- Pre-stress cable records
- Plate fabrication records
Concrete Testing
When required, perform testing of plastic concrete properties, including:
- Spread/Slump
- Unit Weight
- Cylinders
- Air Content
- Temperature
Additional Duties
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Aggregate gradation testing
- Post-pour inspections
- Concrete cylinder break testing
- Batch plant reporting and documentation
This role may require occasional weekend work to support production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Concrete Quality Control or Precast Production
- ACI Field Technician Grade I certification (preferred)
- PCI Level I or Level II certification (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
