Job Description Summary
An instructor in this position will conduct college courses for undergraduate students in physics courses. This individual must possess the knowledge and skills to teach and supervise students in the classroom and laboratory. The individual must also possess knowledge of online instruction.
Duties
1. Instruction of lecture and lab sections of courses in the areas of Applied, Conceptual, and General Physics.
2. Teach physics lectures and laboratories in a variety of times/formats (day, evening, and hybrid).
3. Supervise students in the classroom and lab setting.
4. Develop class syllabus, teaching materials, activities, and handouts for each section/class taught.
5. Prepare and deliver lectures;
6. Research and maintain currency in the related areas of expertise through professional development activities.
7. Advance use of technology within the Department.
8. Utilize innovative techniques for instruction in physics.
9. Instruct students in laboratory safety.
10. Abide by all policies, standards, goals and objectives of the College, the Arts & Sciences Division, and the Department.
11. Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities to improve instructional quality.
12. Maintain accurate student records.
Minimum Requirements
1. Master's degree in Physics or Master's degree in a related area with at least 18 graduate semester hours in physics from an accredited institution.
2. College teaching experience in physics in the areas listed above;
3. Experience in Moodle software.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Three years college teaching experience;
2. Experience in teaching hybrid courses;
