Description:

United Consulting is seeking a Senior Construction Materials Testing Technician NICET Level II to join our Houston, Texas office.

The CMT Field Technician will inspect the contractors’ work and perform field soil, asphalt, and concrete material testing to verify that the work is performed in accordance with project specifications. The job requires extended periods of time working outdoors with moderate to heavy (50 lbs+) lifting. The candidate must be able to walk and stand continuously throughout the day. Periodic travel is required, and on-call duties may be needed. Field technicians must be available to work some weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform a variety of tests on construction materials, including asphalt, soil, and concrete, using materials-testing equipment.
  • Perform field compaction testing, monitor paving operations, and batch plant inspections.
  • Read construction documents to determine project details and specifications.
  • Neatly and accurately complete all required paperwork, including daily reports, test reports, and timesheets - in a timely manner.
  • Record and report test results after performing mathematical calculations and making graphical solutions and representations.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with engineers, staff members, agency representatives, contractors, and business and property owners.
  • Perform maintenance/cleaning of equipment and calibration and adjustments as needed.
  • Adhere to construction site safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the dispatcher for daily assignments.
  • Update Supervisor and Dispatcher on progress and delays on every project.
  • Responsible for the safe use and maintenance of individually assigned company vehicles and field equipment.
  • Must follow and enforce all safety standards.
Requirements:

Skill/Qualification Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Engineering background preferred.
  • Comfortable using MS Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Must be punctual and reliable with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull, stretch, sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid Driver's License and clear driving record
  • Acceptable and/or minimum certifications: NICET II, III, IV, Concrete, Soils, Asphalt, SB101, SB102, and ACI I.
  • ACI certification and Nuclear Density Gauge certification.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday - Saturday (variable time). Able to work some weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Travel is required throughout Texas.
