How you'll get to contribute:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Construction Inspector with a NICET II certification to join our growing Transportation & Infrastructure Division. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and inspecting bridge construction and/or bridge substructure repair near Newark, NJ, ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with established standards, specifications, and regulations. This role may also involve office engineer duties as outlined below. Work schedule varies according to job assignments and/or contractors' schedule, to include night work, weekends, and holidays. Appointment to this position is subject to client review and approval.

What you'll get to do:

  • Conduct regular on-site inspections of highway and/or bridge construction projects and inspect related work materials to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and state regulations.
  • Monitor and document the progress of construction activities, identifying any deviations from the planned schedule or specifications.
  • Coordinate with project team members, engineers, and contractors to address and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
  • Review and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation on-site.
  • Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, including recommendations for corrective actions when necessary, and daily records of the numbers and classifications of workers employed by contractors.
  • Maintain daily records covering running totals of quantities and costs while construction is in progress.
  • Prepare and forward weekly quantity summaries for items associated with the contract.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures.
  • Review traffic protection procedures.
  • Attend meetings and conferences as needed.


Who you are:

  • Required
    • Certified by NICET as a Transportation Engineering Technician (NICET Level II)
      • Note: NICET Level III will also be considered for this role. Compensation is negotiable.
    • 5+ years of experience in construction inspection, with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects.
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project/construction management software.
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites within New Jersey and NYC Metro Area.
  • Preferred
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • NJSAT, NACE, ACI Grade-I and TCC/TCP Certifications
