Job description

Wadsworth Magnet School is seeking a Specialist, Library Media that enjoys working with teachers to design lessons that will support the curriculum, while using media resources.  The candidate must also enjoy working with students to support their love of reading and technology.

Title: Media Specialist
Under general supervision, facilitates, selects and maintains a collection of informational tools and instructional equipment that supports the instructional curriculum; assists teachers and students in accessing information relevant to the instructional curriculum; supervises students in the library/media center; and maintains and purchases instructional equipment.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. 
Selects materials for library/media center; ensures availability of materials to students and staff; supervises library/media clerk.
Provides training to students, teachers, and staff to develop information search skills.
Promotes reading programs.
Supervises students while in the library/media center.
Manages library collection.
Maintains organization and attractiveness of the library/media center.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Library Science, Education or closely related area from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university in relevant educational field required.
Minimum of one (1) year professional level library/media center or closely related experience is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PERMITS:
Valid Professional Standards Commission approved in the field of media specialist at level S-5 or above required.
