Description
Montpelier Arts Center is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our customer service team. General office management duties include but are not limited to; opening and closing the facility, answering phones, greeting and assisting patrons, assisting resident artists, sales, balancing cash register, setting up equipment for classes and meetings, and other duties as assigned. Individuals with experience in the visual arts and/or marketing a plus but not required. Facility is open 7 days a week with daytime and evening shifts available. Must be able to bend and lift up to 30 pounds. General computer skills necessary and the ability to learn sales processing software.
Montpelier Arts Center is located in Laurel, Maryland. We are one of four arts facilities of The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission and serve a wide area within the Washington/Metropolitan area. We have been an arts destination for more than 40 years showcasing international, national, and regional artists as well as providing classes and special events. Minimum Qualifications
Required

Work hours
  • Hours may vary depending on need, can work up to 28 hours per week. Hours average 15-25 hours per week.

Working Conditions/Environment
  • Indoor office environment. Long periods of sitting with intervals of moving and lifting marketing materials or setting up for events.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.
Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees
Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
