Description

Department: Propane Driver Job Status: Full Time Reports To: Operations Manager(s) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY Drive a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Required to deliver propane to residential and commercial customers in a safe and efficient manner. Requires a class A commercial drivers' license with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – ALL DRIVER POSITIONS Essential Functions Statement(s) • Check vehicles pre and post trip to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order (DVIRs). • Maneuver trucks safely into loading or unloading positions and check that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. • Collect delivery instructions from Dispatch, verifying instructions and routes. • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. • Report and document vehicle defects (DVIR), accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles to your supervisor. • Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading as needed to comply with state and federal regulations. • Safely drive trucks to transport and deliver products. • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required. • Operate equipment, such as Samsung tablets, Samsara Driver App (Global tracking and electronic driver logs), Cargas, and cell phones, to exchange necessary information with dispatch, supervisors, or other drivers. • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, changing fuses or lights. • Collect bills of lading (If applicable) or shipping papers and submit them to the office. • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate. • Read and interpret directions and maps to follow vehicle route issued by Dispatch. • Safely load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles, and using other equipment as necessary. • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods. • Immediately report truck maintenance issues to your supervisor. • Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times. • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). • Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, tire chains, or fuses. • Obtain and maintain required CETP certification through the Propane Education & Research Council and Texas Railroad Commission certification (if based in Texas). • Daily interaction with customers, providing exceptional customer service by supplying service information and answering inquiries. • Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage. • Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting, or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks. • Crank trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles. • Accurately and thoroughly relay gallon total delivered to dispatch before leaving customer location. • Email bill of lading paperwork with delivery location written on bill of lading to bols@butchspropane.com.

Hours fluctuate and very according to the market demand. No shift can be guaranteed and long hours may be required. Shifts may begin at different hours of the day or evening, working in a cautious environment where driving carefully and responsibly is a must. This is not only to protect the safety of oneself but for others, the community, and the environment.
