Data Analyst, Office of Data & Analytics (01093)

The Florida Board of Governors is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Data Analyst within the Office of Data & Analytics (ODA). The Data Analyst serves as a full-stack analyst that delivers end-to-end data products and solutions by working across ODA’s full data ecosystem. This position plays a key role as an individual contributor helping ODA fulfill its operational goals of fulfilling data requests, reviewing data submissions, developing and updating SUDS (State University Database System) software, and preparing analytical summaries. Data Analysts support ODA’s strategic goals by actively participating in data governance, ensuring data quality, creating and improving process documentation, and upskilling to become more technically adept. A strong applicant will have experience working with data and stakeholders, proficiency in one or more programming languages, a passion for higher education, and have an appetite for learning and growing.

Note: This is not a Database Administrator (DBA) position.

      Responsibilities, duties, and activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Completes work as assigned across the breadth of ODA’s data ecosystem.
  • Participates in the completion of large/long-range data projects.
  • Conduct statistical and exploratory analyses to identify trends and insights.
  • Write complex, multi-join SQL queries
  • Develop, maintain, test, and optimize functions, procedures, and packages
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand and refine requirements to deliver high-quality data requests.
  • Document workflows, processes, and maintain reproducibility of work.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in data reporting.
  • Continuously develop skills in data tools, languages, and methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years of professional experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills (Pivot tables, Vlookup, etc)
  • Knowledge and understanding of relational databases
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., SQL, SAS, Python, R)
  • Proficiency in one or more data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for solving problems
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Preferred Requirements

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Data Analytics Certificate, IBM Data Analyst Certificate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate)
  • Familiarity with Apex
  • Graduate degree and experience with research and project management
  • Professional experience in higher education or institutional research
