Job description

BlueBuilt Roofing & Siding is one of the fastest-growing residential roofing and exterior remodeling companies in Metro Atlanta. We specialize in roofing, siding, gutters, windows, and doors and are on pace for $10 million in annual revenue this year.

We are looking for a detail-oriented accountant to help us build the financial systems necessary for our next stage of growth.

This position will play a critical role in ensuring accurate job costing, commission calculations, payroll processing, and financial reporting.

Position Summary

The accountant will own the day-to-day financial tracking of projects from production through completion.

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate job costs, calculating commissions, processing payroll, tracking profitability, and supporting company leadership with financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesJob Costing

  • Review and enter supplier invoices

  • Review and enter subcontractor and installer invoices

  • Verify material, labor, permit, and miscellaneous job costs

  • Maintain accurate job costing records

  • Reconcile actual costs against estimated costs

  • Track gross profit by project

  • Identify cost discrepancies and report findings

Payroll & Commission

  • Process weekly payroll

  • Calculate sales commissions based on completed jobs and profit margins

  • Verify commission accuracy through job costing review

  • Maintain payroll records and documentation

  • Coordinate with leadership regarding compensation adjustments

Accounting Support

  • Accounts payable processing

  • Vendor invoice management

  • Credit card reconciliation

  • Monthly financial reporting support

  • Assist fractional CFO with reporting and analysis

  • Maintain organized financial records

Reporting

  • Weekly job profitability reports

  • Commission reports

  • Payroll reports

  • WIP (Work In Progress) reporting

  • Production cost tracking

Qualifications Required:

  • 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or construction accounting experience

  • Strong understanding of job costing

  • Experience processing payroll

  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage confidential information

Preferred:

  • Construction industry experience

  • Roofing, remodeling, or home services experience

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online

  • Experience with ServiceTitan

  • Understanding of commission-based compensation structures

Qualifications:Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or job-costing experience

  • Experience reviewing and processing vendor and subcontractor invoices

  • Working knowledge of job costing, gross profit, work-in-progress reporting, and cost variance analysis

  • Experience processing payroll and calculating variable compensation or sales commissions

  • Understanding of accounts payable, general ledger activity, and credit-card reconciliations

  • Strong Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation

  • Ability to independently identify financial discrepancies, research their causes, and communicate findings

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

  • Ability to meet strict weekly payroll and reporting deadlines

  • Ability to handle confidential payroll and financial information with discretion

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with sales, production, leadership, vendors, and subcontractors

Preferred Qualifications
  • Accounting experience within roofing, construction, home services, or another project-based business

  • Experience with ServiceTitan or similar field-service software

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or comparable accounting software

  • Experience using ADP RUN or another payroll platform

  • Experience calculating commissions based on collected revenue and job profitability

  • Familiarity with construction WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting

  • Experience working with a controller, fractional CFO, or outside CPA

  • Knowledge of purchase orders, change orders, permits, material invoices, and subcontractor billing

  • Experience supporting a business with $5 million or more in annual revenue

  • CPA, CMA, or Certified Payroll Professional credentials are beneficial but not required
