AIXTRON Inc. is seeking experienced Field Service Engineers to work with customers on qualifying and sustaining state‑of‑the-art (MO)CVD systems in R&D and high-volume manufacturing. Job Description:

In the role of “field service engineer”, you are responsible for the installation of our (MO)CVD semiconductor equipment from pre-installation activities to technical acceptance by customer. You will also serve as a liaison between customers and all components of the company throughout the process. After technical acceptance of the semiconductor equipment, the Field Service Engineer offers support in the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of the equipment. Finally, the position is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while representing the interests of the company.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and execute all activities associated with pre-installation, installation, and start-up of equipment with minimal or no direction.

• Act as a company liaison: provide customer-designated interface with status reports, respond to requests for additional information, address customer concerns, advise customers of schedule changes, etc.

• Prepare equipment for process acceptance: testing, troubleshooting, and debugging performance of equipment to a functional state according to contract specifications.

• Diagnose and repair 90% of all hardware and demonstrate knowledge of software failures on assigned equipment.

• Provide accurate documentation of all system problems and actions taken before, during, and after installations.

• Participate in providing 24-hour on-call support for installed base equipment problems when requested.

• Prepare and submit all administrative requirements such as, performance data, time sheets, field service reports and travel expense reports in an accurate and timely manner.

• Train less experienced employees and customer representatives on equipment operation and maintenance

• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing; occasional bending and squatting

• Might be requested to work off-hours, including weekends, up to 12-hour shifts & lift up to 50 lbs.

• Must be able to participate in clean room contamination exposure prevention requirements, such as wearing appropriate apparatus (SCBA), etc.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• BS degree in electrical/mechanical/computer engineering or equivalent education and experience.

• At least 2-5 years of working experience on semiconductor equipment in areas of mechanical, electrical, electronics, electro-mechanical, pneumatics, automation, & robotics.

• Adept in mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, hand tools, multimeter, Helium leak checker, and high purity gas supply systems.

• A high level of written and oral communication skills is required.

• The role requirement with ability to travel domestically and internationally at least >75% of the time.
