Position Summary:
  • The Department of Health and Exercise Science (HES) seeks individuals who are interested in obtaining potential Post-doctoral Fellowship opportunities in our labs.

Brief Work Unit Description:
The Department of Health and Exercise Science (HES) is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University is Colorado's land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University - Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. Faculty in the Department of Health and Exercise Science conduct innovative research in state-of-the-art facilities, with an emphasis on basic, translational, and clinical applications in the area of chronic and age-related diseases. We are committed to our goal of producing nationally and internationally recognized research programs and graduates that are focused on helping people protect and improve their health and quality of life throughout the lifespan.

Salary Range:
  • $60,000-$70,000

Essential Job Duties:
Essential job duties vary depending on the hiring laboratory and research program, but may include:
  • Recruitment and screening of human subjects for funded projects
  • Coordination with other lab personnel.
  • May include supervisory responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate researchers.
  • Analysis/documentation of analyses of samples in line with the proposed aims/approach for the funded projects.
  • Preparation of manuscripts.
  • Development of new/follow-on hypotheses stemming from other studies.
  • Method development to address new hypotheses as necessary.
  • Proposal development of post-doctoral and mentored research grants.
  • Attendance at routine meetings with lab principal investigators (PIs), laboratory meetings, departmental seminars, and regional/national conferences as appropriate.

Specific duties will be defined at the time of hire by the supervising faculty member.

Supervision:
  • This position reports to a faculty member within the Department of Health and Exercise Science. Day-to-day supervision and expectations are defined by the hiring manager.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in related field or documentation of completion of Ph.D. requirements by start date and degree conferred within 3 months of the position start date.
  • Relevant research experience in related field.
