Commission Dragline Jobs (NOW HIRING)

This position operates cranes to lift, move, and position large structure gates, pump station machinery, and heavy loads.  This position will also be required to operate multi-excavation/earthmoving equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, gradalls, etc. to maintain ditches, canals, and levees.
Inspects the crane for safety issues daily, as well as the condition of the work site prior to setting up the crane. Ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
Reads and understands signs, signals, load charts, grade stakes, excavation plans, maps/charts for dredging areas, operating manuals, and service procedures.
Determines load weights and checks them against lifting capacities to prevent overload. Observes proper load hook-up. Must be aware of how much material can be lifted safely based upon weather conditions and the capacity of the crane. Works within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
Monitors gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Manipulates crane controls to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
Places blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads. Bolts boom sections together to extend or modify the boom for pile driving or high lifting.
Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with regulations or standards.
This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Field Station Work Hours:
Miami Field Station work hours are Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Our offices are closed on Friday.
Employment Guidelines
High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of experience operating a crane and multi-excavation/earthmoving equipment, and 4+ years of experience operating a crane, dragline, and multi-excavation/earthmoving equipment. The hiring range for this position is $62,067.20 to $73,028.80 (based on education and years of relevant work experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Licenses
Valid State of Florida Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without restriction to operate a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission, or the ability to obtain within 3 months from the date of hire and/or placement in the job.  The District is willing to pay the cost of CDL training.
Will be required to obtain applicable certification by a nationally recognized certifying entity, such as NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), or the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) for this position.
Ability to obtain Forklift Operations Certification and First Aid/CPR/AED.
Physical Requirements/ Working Environment
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times be required to provide support before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on the assigned emergency response role.
Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests, and operates equipment to complete assignments. The work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
Other physical aspects of this job include Climbing, depth perception, exposure to gases and/or fumes (paint, welding, oil, grease, adhesive, chemical, herbicide, motor solvent, carbon monoxide, dust), recognizing color differences, upper body vibration, walking, rough terrain, working in, on, or near water.
