Position Summary

The Data Engineer is responsible for expanding and optimizing our data collection and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing systems and building them from the ground up. The Data architect will support our database engineers, analysts and field supervisors on initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the needs of field operations, reporting and analyst teams. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing and designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and initiatives. This is an in-office role. 

Responsibilities

  • Design data collection forms and pipelines for data extraction
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Fabric, and Azure big data technologies.
  • Keep our data separated and secure.
  • Create data tools for analysts that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related degree or related experience required
  • Experience designing data collection forms in Fulcrum or similar survey software is preferred
  • Experience working with the utility industry preferred
  • Effective communication skills required
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Azure or other cloud data platform
  • Profiecient in Data engineering
  • Proficient in Python, JavaScript and SQL preferred
  • Experience developing apps and environments in Fulcrum strongly preferred
  • Experience in utility infrastructure or utility vegetation management preferred
