Job description

Job Summary
The Clinical Business Analyst acts as a key liaison between clinical operations, business stakeholders, and IT teams to improve clinical workflows, EHR/EMR solutions, and data-driven decision making. This mid-senior level role leads requirements analysis, solution design, and implementation support to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across clinical systems and programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead discovery and requirements-gathering sessions with clinicians, operational leaders, and business stakeholders for EHR, care management, population health, and quality initiatives.
  • Analyze current-state clinical workflows, system usage, and operational data to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Translate clinical and operational needs into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows (BPMN, Visio).
  • Partner with product owners, architects, and engineering teams across the SDLC to validate designs and ensure alignment with clinical and regulatory goals.
  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases, support UAT, and perform root-cause analysis for clinical application issues.
  • Build reports and dashboards to support outcomes measurement, utilization management, quality reporting, and executive decision-making.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned clinical applications, providing tier-2/3 support, incident triage, and change management guidance.
  • Ensure solutions comply with HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, FDA / 21 CFR Part 11 (GxP where applicable) and internal governance standards.
  • Mentor junior analysts and support training, adoption, and change management for new or enhanced clinical systems.

Essential Skills
  • Clinical Business Analysis in healthcare environments
  • EHR/EMR workflow analysis and optimization
  • Requirements elicitation and documentation
  • Agile / Hybrid SDLC experience
  • SQL and clinical data analysis
  • Dashboarding and reporting (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Stakeholder management across clinical and IT teams
  • Healthcare compliance and regulatory knowledge

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied Health, Information Systems, or related field
  • Master's in Health Informatics, Public Health, or similar preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Clinical Business Analyst, Clinical Informatics Analyst, or similar
  • Hands-on experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts, or Athena
  • Strong understanding of clinical operations, care delivery workflows, and quality metrics
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills

Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • CBAP or CCBA certification
  • Health Informatics certifications (CPHIMS, Clinical Informatics)
  • Experience with HL7, FHIR, interoperability, and data exchange
  • Exposure to clinical decision support, digital health platforms
  • Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project
