Job description

The Director of Nursing Informatics & Clinical Systems serves as the strategic and operational leader at the intersection of nursing practice, clinical workflows, and health information technology. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and governance of clinical information systems that support safe, high-quality patient care across the continuum. Reporting jointly to the Chief Nurse Executive and Chief Information Officer, the Director serves as the primary liaison between nursing practice and the IT enterprise, ensuring that technology investments align with clinical priorities, regulatory requirements, and the patient experience.
As a senior nursing leader, this individual champions the meaningful use of data and technology to advance nursing practice, reduce documentation burden, support clinical decision-making, and drive quality outcomes. The Director leads a team of nurse informaticists and clinical analysts and maintains active participation in nursing governance, quality, and patient safety structures
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, Nursing Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive nursing experience, with at least 3 years in nursing informatics, clinical systems, or health Information Technology leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience with Electronic Health Record implementation, optimization, or governance (Epic, Meditech, Cerner, or equivalent).
  • Experience with NDNQI data submission, clinical quality registries, or value-based care reporting.
  • Experience in a safety-net community hospital or academic medical center environment.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of New York (or applicable state).
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure - HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • DNP or PhD with informatics focus welcome.
  • Informatics Nurse Specialist (RN-BC in Nursing Informatics) certification through ANCC; or CPHIMS (Certified Professional in Health Informatics and Information Management) through HIMSS - HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Ability to translate nursing practice priorities into technology solutions with measurable clinical impact. Strategic Vision:
