Job description

Description:

SHINE Technologies is seeking a Senior Radiochemist who will lead the design, execution, and analysis of experiments supporting medical isotope production and purification and used nuclear fuel (UNF) recycling. This role plays a critical part in advancing radiochemical processes and ensuring regulatory and safety compliance.

The base salary range for this position is $75,000 -$120,000 per year plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities of the Senior Radiochemist include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and execute experiments for isotope production and used nuclear fuel (UNF) recycling, applying techniques such as column chromatography, solvent extraction, and crystallization.
  • Ensure safe handling of radiological materials in compliance with ALARA principles.
  • Maintain and calibrate key analytical and radioanalytical instruments including ICP-MS, HPGe, LSC, a/ß spectrometry, and XRD.
  • Contribute to innovative research by drafting proposals for funding opportunities.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience handling radioactive materials and operating radioanalytical instrumentation.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a radiological laboratory environment.
  • Prior work with UNF and expertise in separation science (e.g., solvent extraction, chromatographic separation) strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing technical proposals.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.

SHINE values diversity in all its forms as a critical component of innovation, which is fundamental to our success. Every member of the SHINE community benefits from the talents and experiences of our peers, from the mutual respect we exercise, and from the responsibility we take for our actions.

SHINE Technologies is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.
