Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Are you a seasoned and energetic landscaper desiring an opportunity to teach the next generation of landscape professionals? If so, then consider applying for the full-time, Instructor of Landscape Construction and Management position. The ideal candidate should possess a broad knowledge of landscape construction and management techniques, practices, and equipment, in order to oversee and train students on applied, hands-on activities and campus projects. Instructional duties include but are not limited to: creating and delivering classroom lectures; developing and updating course curricula, schedules, outlines and syllabi; creating and conducting timely assessments of student learning; using the College’s Learning Management System (Canvas); and attending Williamson meetings and special activities. Lastly mentor and guide student behavior, in alignment with the college’s code of conduct and Core Values as a means to aid students in their personal growth and future professional success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree required (Bachelor’s preferred) in landscape construction or maintenance or related discipline with at least six years of progressively responsible trade experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and equipment operation and safety, is required.

COMPENSATION

Based on educational qualifications and applicable industry and teaching experience, the annual salary for the non-tenured, ten-month appointment is in the competitive range and includes an excellent benefits package.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the instructor to teach in-person.

Williamson College of the Trades is an endowed, three-year, private technical college for deserving young men. The college, founded over 135 years ago, is a community of 320 students and 80 part-time/full-time instructors, administrators, and support staff operating on a beautiful 220-acre campus near Media, PA.

Williamson is dedicated to teaching trade and technical skills, related general education, and moral and ethical values from a Christian perspective. The total educational environment is designed to foster trade and academic competence, self-discipline, personal integrity, exemplary conduct, and a commitment to honesty, dependability, productivity, resourcefulness, and quality workmanship.

The college has a totally residential student body and all admitted students receive full scholarships covering tuition and room and board, and most textbooks. Student life is carefully structured, including a prescribed daily schedule, a dress code, required chapel, and clearly defined opportunities and responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical demands of the position require standing on your feet for extended periods of time to teach in the classroom and outdoors. Physical demands also require teaching labs and using visual, audio and computer assisted technology, as needed.
