THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission is looking for a Fish Culture Station Foreman to join our Corry State Fish Hatchery in Erie County. In this role, you will oversee activities at the hatchery to ensure safe and efficient operations as well as regulatory compliance. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Fish Culture Station Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising fish culturists in the propagation of fish for stocking for Commonwealth waters. You will have the opportunity to play an integral part of the day-to-day operations at Corry State Fish Hatchery, while working alongside personnel to prioritize the hatchery needs to ensure efficiency. Work involves:
- Planning Duties: Assist with developing fish distribution schedules; prioritizing the annual, monthly, and daily work, scheduling, and supply needs for hatchery
- Fish Production: Produce and stock trout and other species; monitor fish, water, and hatchery systems; and maintain optimum fish rearing conditions
- Facility Operations: Direct, supervise, and participate in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance, cleaning, and repair; ensure effective safety measures
- Personnel Management: Handling recruitment, training, performance reviews, and employee recognition
- Administrative Work: Prepare reports for inventory, waterflows, time and activity, and other facility functions; participate in procurement
- Public Relations: Respond to public inquiries by phone and in writing; participate in other public relations in support of hatchery and Fish & Boat programs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Fish Culturist 2; or
- Two years of technical experience in the propagation and care of food or game fish; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Class B Commercial Driver's License.
