Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking a Construction Engineer to support the EHRM NRM Project Support Services project at the Portland Campus. You will coordinate construction activities, manage submittals, monitor schedules, conduct inspections, maintain project documentation, address construction-related issues, and support project completion.

This position is contingent upon contract award. If awarded, the anticipated period of performance will be base year and one option year. The work assignment will be on-site in Portland, Oregon. The approved budget for this role is $70,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate submittal reviews and management of submittal process
  • Review of submittals and provide escort duties.
  • Track availability of long lead items and ensure impact to schedule is documented and communicated.
  • Review and monitor construction phase schedules, with emphasis on milestones, phasing, workflow, material deliveries, and inspection and testing dates.
  • Attend and support progress meetings; following up on Government actions.
  • Field verification of as-builts, assist with creation and updates of as-builts.
  • Perform inspections and provide reports to COR on work that require correction.
  • Assist with development of courses of action for issues.
  • Provide troubleshooting support.
  • Support Commissioning.
  • Perform additional construction support related services, including surveys and field investigation.
  • Advise the government and make recommendations to the COR/CO for situations involving potential contract modifications or potential claims analysis.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Successfully complete a background check and obtain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card. 
  • Bring the background, qualifications, capabilities, and skillset needed to support the specified project and perform assigned duties. 
  • Possess appropriate “reach-back” expertise for the specific task order. 
  • Access and complete training on the VA construction management software used for the project. 
  • Perform services with professional skill, care, and diligence while meeting required timelines. 
  • Meet or exceed applicable professional practice and performance standards, including The Joint Commission (TJC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and VA policies and design standards.
  • Hold a valid U.S. driver’s license and obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NACI).
