Responsibilities
The Airport Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Supervisor provides fire prevention and suppression services to all City of Dayton Aviation facilities. Directs protection operations to minimize loss of life and property and to ensure emergency medical and rescue services are provided as needed. Provides emergency care for people when warranted and provides rescue efforts involving aircraft passengers and crew members. Directs the emergency responses to fire alarms, aircraft alerts, and hazardous material incidents. As a member of the management team, the incumbent will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Must be able to perform all approved medical care techniques of the Greater Miami Valley Emergency Medical Services Commission (GGMVEMSC), Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Division, or its medical advisors.\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or related field AND 4 years firefighting experience, with at least 1 year as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter;OR\r\n\r\n\r\nAssociate degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, Business Management, Emergency Medical Services or a related field AND 4 years firefighting experience, with at least 3 years as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter;OR\r\n\r\n\r\nHigh School Diploma (or G.E.D) AND 8 years as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter.\r\n\r\n\r\nDegree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.\r\n\r\n
License Requirements
Must have a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.\r\n\r\n
Special Requirements
The following must be possessed and maintained as a term and condition of continued employment:\r\n\r\n\r\n1. A valid State of Ohio Level II Firefighter certification ANDa valid State of Ohio Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT) at time of appointment.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Within one year of appointment, must obtain and maintain the following certifications: State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification, Hazardous Materials Operations level certification, Ohio Fire Instructor I certification, Fire Officer I and Ohio Fire Officer II certifications.\r\n\r\n\r\n3. Must complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 within one year of appointment.\r\n\r\n\r\n4. Must complete recurrent ARFF training in accordance with FAR 139.319.\r\n\r\n\r\n5. Must obtain State of Ohio Paramedic Certification within 30 months, from the start of the Paramedic Class in which the City of Dayton registers the candidate.\r\n\r\n\r\n6. Must obtain an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon enrollment in an ACLS class in which the City of Dayton registers the candidate.\r\n\r\n\r\nPolice and U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprint and background investigations are required.\r\n
