Job description

PathConnexx is one of the ways we at IDEXX remain committed to supporting the training and education of future veterinary pathologists. We understand how important it is to gain diverse experiences during your residency, and we're excited to once again offer the opportunity to peek behind the curtain at IDEXX through our hands-on PathConnexx externship program, now in its 11th year.
What is PathConnexx? A unique learning experience for a veterinary pathology resident currently enrolled in an anatomic pathology residency program and beginning their final year in the fall of 2026.
Residents will gain real-world experience working virtually alongside our pathologists, who provide pathology diagnostics and consultation services to practicing veterinarians. During your externship, you will be integrated into our global professional pathology team with exposure to a wide range of interesting pathology cases, specifically selected for you based on your interests and goals for your program.
What to expect:
  • Externship will take place either the week of January 25th or February 1st, 2027, at a mutually agreeable time
  • You'll participate in the digital diagnostic evaluation of specimens, related consultations, and other activities
  • You'll interact virtually with several IDEXX pathologists of various backgrounds and areas of interest
  • You'll attend and participate in pathology-related meetings, as available (i.e. rounds)

What you'll need:
  • DVM or equivalent
  • 18+ years of age and two completed years of an Anatomic Pathology residency with a track record of academic success and potential
  • Familiarity with current topics and issues in diagnostic veterinary medicine
  • Successful completion of Phase I of the ACVP board exam highly desirable
