Position Summary

The Commercial Account Manager - Solar O&M is responsible for driving B2B revenue growth across commercial and enterprise accounts by structuring and selling long-term Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contracts, asset management solutions, monitoring services, and performance-focused service programs. Reporting to the VP of Global Sales, this role leads sales efforts with enterprise customers and multi-site commercial portfolios, targeting Fortune 500 enterprises, commercial & industrial (C&I) property owners, independent power producers (IPPs), and renewable energy asset managers.

Operating at the intersection of commercial solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), this role combines strong technical knowledge with disciplined enterprise sales execution. The Commercial Account Manager partners closely with engineering, legal, finance, and the internal Solar Service Operations group to structure custom service agreements that position Otovo as a trusted long-term O&M partner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a national sales strategy targeting commercial, industrial, and institutional asset owners to secure long-term solar O&M, monitoring, and asset management agreements.

  • Proactively identify, target, and close enterprise and multi-site portfolio opportunities with C-suite executives, sustainability leaders, facilities teams, and asset management stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with engineering, legal, finance, and operations teams to model, draft, and negotiate custom service level agreements (SLAs), preventative maintenance scopes, corrective repair programs, monitoring solutions, asset management services, and performance guarantees.

  • Partner closely with the internal Solar Service Operations group to ensure proposed solutions align with operational capacity, regional pricing, technical requirements, and deployment schedules.

  • Position Otovo as a trusted O&M partner for complex commercial solar and storage portfolios, including monitoring, asset management, inverter repowering, SCADA upgrades, and BESS optimization services.

  • Maintain an accurate, metrics-driven sales pipeline in the CRM and provide reliable quarterly and annual revenue forecasts to executive leadership.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of successful B2B sales experience in renewable energy, energy services, or a related sector, including at least 5 years focused on commercial/industrial solar O&M, asset management, monitoring, or technical service sales.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding significant annual sales targets, with demonstrated success closing institutional, enterprise, or multi-site portfolio contracts.

  • Strong working knowledge of commercial solar technology, including central/string inverters, SCADA/DAS monitoring infrastructure, thermal imaging, and utility-scale or C&I Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

  • Expertise in analyzing project financial models, understanding NPV/IRR impacts of asset downtime, and translating performance data into tangible ROI conversations for clients.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related technical discipline.

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 40% to meet prospective clients, attend industry conferences, and visit major portfolio sites.

Preferred Certifications
  • NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification

  • MBA or other industry-specific technical certification

Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 90% of the time to client sites, portfolio locations, and industry conferences.

  • Ability to work remote with periodic in-person client and site visits.

  • May require occasional site walk-throughs at active commercial/industrial solar and BESS installations.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $80,000-$145,000 base salary (based on experience, qualifications, and market considerations), plus commission earnings in accordance with the company's commission plan.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefit packages.

  • Enrollment in a 401(k) retirement savings plan featuring employer matching contributions

  • Generous paid time off policy encompassing vacation days, sick leave, and observed company holidays.
