What is a commercial property professional?

Commercial property professionals are experts who manage, lease, buy, sell, or value properties intended for business use, such as office buildings, retail spaces, warehouses, and industrial sites. Their roles can include property management, brokerage, appraisal, and investment analysis. They help clients navigate legal, financial, and market considerations to maximize the value and utility of commercial real estate assets. These professionals often work with property owners, investors, tenants, and developers.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in commercial property roles, and how can they be addressed?

Commercial property professionals often encounter challenges such as managing complex lease agreements, balancing the needs of multiple tenants, and staying current with market trends and regulations. To address these challenges, it's important to develop strong negotiation and communication skills, maintain up-to-date knowledge of local property laws, and use technology to streamline property management tasks. Collaborating closely with legal, finance, and maintenance teams also helps ensure smooth operations and effective problem-solving.

  • Review financial reports, approve invoices, and ensure accurate reporting for property owners.

  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects while maintaining high property standards.

  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate service contracts, and ensure quality work is completed on time and within budget.

  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Oversee lease administration, including tenant compliance, renewals, and coordination with leasing teams.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, lease agreements, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Partner with accounting, construction, and leadership teams to support property performance and strategic initiatives.

  • Prepare ownership reports and communicate property performance, project updates, and operational recommendations.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 5+ years of commercial property management experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of commercial leases, property operations, budgeting, and financial reporting.

  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with tenants, vendors, and ownership groups.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and commercial property management software (Entrataย experience is a plus).

  • Ability to analyze financial reports and make sound business decisions.

  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

  • You embody our core values of Diligent, Winning Mindset, Respectful Team Player, Humbly Confident, and Integrity.

Benefits Package:

  • Health Benefits: Medical, Vision & Dental Insurance
  • Wellness Benefits: Employee Assistance Program
  • Virtual Doctor Visits
  • Retirement Planning: 401k program with a company match
