Job description

Experienced Commercial Pool Service Technician

Blue Water Pools
Wappingers Falls, NY
$70,000–$100,000 per year | Salaried | Seasonal schedule

Blue Water Pools is seeking an experienced Commercial Pool Service Technician to join our team. This is a year-round salaried position with a busy peak season and reduced winter schedule. In summer, expect longer days and occasional weekend emergency/on-call availability. During the slower winter months, availability for at least three scheduled days per week is required, and PTO is generally scheduled during this off-season period.

This is a commercial-pool role—not a residential pool route position. We are looking for a skilled professional who can independently service, repair, build, renovate, and maintain commercial pool systems.

Responsibilities

  • Service, inspect, clean, and maintain commercial pools and their mechanical systems.
  • Test and balance water chemistry; safely handle, store, and transport pool chemicals.
  • Diagnose and repair commercial pumps, filters, heaters, chemical feeders, salt systems, automation, lighting, valves, plumbing, leaks, and related equipment.
  • Perform pool openings, closings, winterization, start-ups, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Install and upgrade commercial pool equipment, equipment pads, plumbing, automation, and related systems.
  • Support commercial pool construction, renovations, equipment installations, and repair projects.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, work orders, photos, and inventory records using a mobile device.
  • Communicate professionally with property managers, facility staff, and customers about findings, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and professional condition.
  • Follow all commercial-pool safety procedures, chemical-handling practices, and applicable local health and safety regulations.
  • Respond to urgent customer issues and participate in an on-call rotation for occasional weekend emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • CSP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates without CSP certification must have at least 5 years of hands-on commercial pool experience in service, repair, construction, renovation, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants whose experience is limited to residential pools are not a fit for this position.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial pool water chemistry, testing, balancing, chemical feeders, and chemical safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair commercial pool equipment, circulation systems, and plumbing.
  • Experience with commercial pumps, filters, heaters, saltwater systems, automation, lighting, valves, and leak-related repairs.
  • Working knowledge of commercial pool electrical equipment, including control panels, automation systems, lighting, pumps, and heaters; able to identify electrical issues and complete permitted repairs safely.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to safely operate a company vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize a service route, and communicate professionally with customers and teammates.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for work orders, photos, scheduling, and communication.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work longer days during the busy summer season.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry heavy equipment, chemicals, tools, and supplies; up to 75 pounds may be required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, rain, and other seasonal conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work around commercial pool equipment and construction areas.
  • Ability to safely work with tools, chemicals, and commercial pool equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of $70,000–$100,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Year-round salaried position with a seasonal schedule.
  • Reduced winter schedule with a minimum availability of three days per week.
  • Paid time off (PTO), generally scheduled during the slower winter/off-season months, subject to business needs.
  • Company phone.
  • This position offers a clear opportunity for advancement into a supervisory or management role as Blue Water Pools continues to grow, based on performance, leadership ability, and business needs.
