Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney
Location: Houston, TX
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join the Commercial Litigation Practice of a leading Am Law firm in Houston. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3–5 years of sophisticated commercial litigation experience who is looking to work on complex, high-stakes business disputes for national and international clients.

The ideal candidate has experience handling sophisticated commercial litigation at a top-tier law firm and enjoys working on matters involving complex business relationships, financial disputes, and strategic commercial transactions.

Responsibilities
  • Represent corporate clients in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings.
  • Manage matters through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and appeals.
  • Draft briefs, motions, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation filings.
  • Conduct legal research and develop strategic litigation positions for sophisticated business disputes.
  • Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary legal teams to develop practical, business-focused litigation strategies.
  • Participate in client meetings, case strategy discussions, and settlement negotiations.
  • Manage multiple high-exposure matters while delivering exceptional client service and high-quality legal work.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • 3–5 years of commercial litigation experience at a Top 100 law firm.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with the capacity to work effectively with clients, business professionals, and litigation teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Active membership in the Texas Bar.
