Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Locations: Atlanta, GA | Dallas, TX | Washington, DC
Salary: $260,000–$390,000 (Washington, DC salary range; compensation for other locations will be commensurate with experience.)

Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join a prestigious global law firm'snationally recognized Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. This opportunity is ideal for a mid-level associate with 4–6 years of complex litigation experience who is interested in sophisticated commercial litigation with a focus on insurance coverage disputes, coverage analysis, and high-stakes litigation.

The successful candidate will work alongside nationally recognized litigators representing clients in complex disputes while gaining significant responsibility, client interaction, and courtroom experience.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in complex commercial litigation matters from case inception through trial and appeal, as applicable.
  • Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, case evaluations, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare analytical memoranda.
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review, depositions, and expert coordination.
  • Draft insurance coverage opinions and analyze complex coverage disputes.
  • Advise clients on insurance coverage issues, extra-contractual claims, and litigation strategy.
  • Work directly with clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and courts throughout all stages of litigation.
  • Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on sophisticated, high-profile litigation matters.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Active bar admission and good standing in the jurisdiction where the attorney will practice.
  • 4–6 years of complex commercial litigation experience at a law firm.
  • Experience with insurance coverage litigation is strongly preferred; candidates with substantial complex litigation experience and a genuine interest in insurance coverage matters are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging risks involving insurance, environmental matters, and products liability litigation.
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, oral advocacy, and case management skills.
  • Strong client relationship and communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-stakes matters simultaneously.
  • Federal District Court or Court of Appeals clerkship experience is a plus.
